22. Initial Idea

Title of film- Between the two
We came up with the name of the film 'Between the Two' because it hints the plot of our film, but still keep it vague and ambiguous.

Sub Genre: High school drama, follows the common concept, 'coming of age', focusing on adolescent characters, high schools and homes, peer groups and social groups.

Initial Plot:
It's about two girls living completely different lives. This film is going to show the contrast between their lives- social and economic background. One of the girls  is perceived as being rich from the way she dresses and acts, has a lot of friends (popular girl), but has a lower class background that no-one knows about due to her self obsessed world.
On the other hand, we have the second main character (nerdy girl) who has no friends, looks past the social obsessed world she lives, likes reading books unlike other teenage girls. She too has a secret life, she has the economic background that would increase her social status, but she has not interest in her wealth controlling her self image.
No-body knows who they really are, their worlds are where self image and social status mean everything

Character Types/ Social group/ Representation:
In our film opening we show two different social groups as our main characters enter the college. The social groups will be the 'popular girls' and the 'nerds'. We are going to represent these social groups in a stereotypical way . Therefore we will use props, make-up and costumes to portray the stereotype representation.

Popular and self obsessed character- an insight of one of our lead characters.
Contrast between two social groups- popular and outcast.
Own Ideas:
We were going to lead the plot of the film in the direction of the film 'Freaky Friday' in which it takes switching bodies and lives to understand what it's like to be in the others shoes, therefore learning more about themselves and each other. However since were only filming the opening, it wasn't decided which route the plot would end in.
