What is target audience

Target audience is a specific group that a movie or advertisement  is aimed at/suitable to watch or buy the product. Imagine you see a toy advert presenting a doll with pink clothing you can straight away assume the target audience of that product is for little girls.

How do you define a target audience:This is done by establishing various aspects. 

• Where is the location of your target audience?
• Male? Female? Both?
• What is their average age?
• What are their common interests?
• Income range?
• Common values they share?

If you answer these questions when planning the target audience of a movie then this will give you a clear idea of the target audience you are trying to reach.

Its useful for movies to have target audiences to help the attract an audience and make it appeal to them so they can make sure that their movie idea is being presented to the right people.
I think teen dramas appeal teenagers and young adults on average aged 12-20. Both males and females depending on the plot of the movie. Even the interests of teens will determine what teen dramas teens and young adults chose to watch.

London, North west and the South Coast

Kidulthood

This tells us mostly females watch aged between 18-24 watch kidulthood.

The top regions from this are London, East Anglia and Wales

Inbewteeners Movie

On average males between ages 18-24 watch this.
From regions North East, Yorkshire and Wales.
The pictures of the people shown are also an idea of what the average person 'looks like'.

Here is a survey I created and then broadcasted the link to people on my whatsapp to complete.
From the survey I found that most my contacts enjoy American teen dramas better and favourite teen drama films that were said were mean girls, not another teen movie, stomp the yard and many more
