The Conjuring
Which credits do we see & the order we see them in?
We are introduced to the main characters first in title sequence rather than the cast: 'The Warrens Family'. The order of the credits are: the director, producers, the main crew, the main cast, other crew such as music and costumes, and then the production company.
What font type is used for the titles? / How we see the font?
It's very simple to make it seem like something designed in a older time period. The lettering of the title is classic, the 'J' is extended making the letter feel more endless. The font is moving with the images.
What happened behind the font- what do we see, who are we introduced to, what sound do we hear?
There black and white images of 'The warrens' past cases- photographs, newspapers, clipping and audio files.
The title sequence moves at quite a slow pace making it seem scarier, and it helps capture the simplicity.
What do you like about the sequence?
I like the fact the sequence is made up of multiple layers of imagery.
Anything else?
It was shot on a canon SD experiment making the footage feel a bit older and more analog.
They were looking at the photographic compositions and archival approach which has an eerie genuine quality. They also wanted a true analogue approach because the film takes place in the 70's.
Juno
Which credits do we see & the order we see them in?
The credits are in the order of producers, production company, title, main cast, main crew, music, co-producers, executive producers, writer and director.
What font type is used for the titles? / How we see the font?
An animated typography is used, it looks like text from doodle notepad, it's quite childlike/has a high school feel.
What happened behind the font- what do we see, who are we introduced to, what sound do we hear?
The main character 'Juno' is walking down a street, music is played in background. It started off normal with no effects then after the first couple of seconds the whole title sequence is filmed in illustrated animation until the last couple of seconds where it's back to normal.
What do you like about the sequence?
I like the used animation to create the high school setting.
